There’s a new Monster of the Midway.
After months of speculation, unfair analysis and mercurial draft stock, Justin Fields is heading to the Bears after being selected 11th overall by them in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Bears, who were originally slated to pick No. 20, traded a 2022 first-round pick and more to the Giants for the No. 11 pick. Fields was expected to go in the top 10, and a short slide resulted in Chicago securing its presumed long-term answer at quarterback.
The Ohio State QB was put through the ringer leading up to this year’s draft. At first, he was slated to be the No. 2 quarterback, but he eventually was overtaken by BYU’s Zach Wilson (No. 2, Jets) and Trey Lance (No. 3, 49ers) before finally hearing his name called.

Fields was at home with friends and family when his name was announced and one the 2021 NFL Draft’s biggest mysteries was solved.
Though the Bears signed free-agent QB Andy Dalton, presumably to start, they will have quite a choice to make should Fields look ready during training camp.
Here’s how the NFL world reacted to Fields’ selection by Chicago:
The #Bears get their QB of the future: #OSU QB Justin Fields. A massive haul but they FINALLY land their QB at No. 11.

I’m 42. Grown adult. Two kids sleeping down the hall.
I might cry a little. I’m so proud of the Bears.

This is arguably the best QB moment in Bears franchise history.

The Chicago #Bears have never had a 4,000 yard passer in the history of their franchise. Justin fields will change that immediately! Congrats Chicago, y’all got a BEAST!
