Video: Learning about journalism in a ‘fake news’ world

WORTHINGTON — Worthington High School’s fall Trojan News students wrapped up their second quarter Friday, finishing their tenure in the class and moving on to other courses.

Two of the student journalists, Beverly Jimenez and Kero Morke, shared with The Globe what they’ve learned while hyper-localizing national and global issues like COVID-19, zeroing in on how isolation has affected residents of a single town or even a 1,000-person student body.

The young women explained that their experience as student journalists during such a tumultuous year has motivated them not only to pay attention to current events, but to be discerning about the validity of sources and the credibility of news.
